Mainly Music and Lighthouse, Joining Forces To Better Kiwi Kids Lives

Lighthouse At-Home, New Zealand’s leading at-home childcare business, today announced its exclusive sponsorship of Mainly Music, an iconic Kiwi company which has been running music groups for parents, carers and children since 1990.

Mainly Music is a music group for parents or primary care givers to enjoy together with their young children. Throughout each music session, children develop gross and fine motor skills, language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading skills as well as learning to socialize with others.

“Mainly Music is very excited to welcome Lighthouse At-Home as a sponsorship partner. As an organisation, we are keen to see children develop in their readiness for school, for families to be supported and encouraged, and for community to be created. Lighthouse AtHome has a similar educational focus that we’re keen to learn from as we contribute to the lives of families in communities around New Zealand. And their values align with our organisational values as well,” says Mainly Music Representative Rachel Ballentyne.

Describing their relationship, Lighthouse At-Home co-founder, Shane Zhan says,

“We value this partnership as both organizations have shared values and goals. We both believe that family members make the best educators for young children and that whanau and community involvement in a young child’s life is pivotal.”

Committed enriching children’s lives, Lighthouse At-Home have run road safety seminars, host a free, annual Children’s Day event with over 20,000 attendees and are now enhancing children’s learning through music together with Mainly Music.

Lighthouse At-Home was founded as a result of co-founder and EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Finalist, Grace Xue’s search for quality childcare for her own children. Grace’s search resulted in her selling her successful IT business to buy a preschool and eventually start Lighthouse At-Home Childcare.

Now, 3 years later, Lighthouse At-Home Childcare is the largest privately owned at-home childcare company in New Zealand.

“For over 8 years, my mother-in-law has been coming to our house every work day to help us look after our youngest child, and we’ve celebrated every milestones of the children’s together. Our children call their grandmother nana and the strong bond they’ve developed with each other is just so beautiful, she’s almost in every family photo that our children have ever drawn!”

Lighthouse started as a leading community focused childcare center in Auckland over 30 years ago and in 2012 branched into at-home education service.

By helping truly passionate educators set up their home based childcare businesses, Lighthouse is able to provide quality, high ratio childcare through carefully handpicked educators or through nanny’s or grandparents/relatives of the parent’s choosing.
